Chemical sensitivity, costly cleaners and personal care products as well as becoming more enironmentally aware has led me to the search for more natural, earth friendly products, for both personal as well as home care. I wish to use this site to share recipes I have found, and some which I use on a day to day basis.
I will try and update this page with new recipes as often as I can. Please feel free to send me recipes of your own. If you wish to have them put on this site please leave me you name and contact information.
Please remember that when using any new product, individual people and environments react differently, so please take care.
Repel Flies From Your Windows
Apply 10 - 15 drops lavender essential oil to a damp rag and simply wipe down windowsills, screens and screen doors.
Kitchen & Bathroom Cleaner
Mix in a spray bottle: 1 cup distilled water, 1 cup white vinegar, 1 TBSP rubbing alcohol and 15 - 20 drops lavender essential oil. (If you don't like lavender you can substitute it for tea-tree oil) Shake before each use and wipe dry.
Light Moisturizing spray
1 cup distilled water, 3tsp vegetable glycerin, 7 drops lavender essential oil, mix together and pour into a small spray bottle. Shake before each use and spray lightly.
Moisture Bar
1 part pure beeswax, 2 parts pure olive oil, a few drops essential oil. The is one of my favorites! I keep a moisture bar beside th kitchen sink and run my hands over if after doing the dishes. Place beeswax(half a pure beeswax candle works well) in a pint jar. Place in a small pot filled to reach about half way up container. Bring water to just the boiling point. When wax is melted add olive oil and stir until mixed. Add a few drops of lavender, tea-tree or peppermint oil. Pour into a container and let cool. ( I use small containers from the dollar store that have lids, they are easy to take with you then) Lavender and tea-tree oil are excellent for dry, cracked skin like elbows, hands and feet. Peppermint is refreshing and when applied to feet can help to make tired feet feel energized! Note: I use alot of olive oil, because I like what it does to my skin. You may wish to play with the amounts.
Balance The PH Of Your Skin
Mix 1 part Pure apple Cider Vinegar to 8 parts distilled water. Mix well before each use. Apply to your face with a cotton ball after cleansing. Let dry.

Mix well until baking soda is disolved (be careful when mixing, we all know what happens to baking soda and vinegar) Add 1 cup to the rinse cycle of your wash to freshen, soften and sanitize your laundry.
